Creativity is the single most important aspect in creating a successful nation. The fact that uniqueness is declining in the United States' youth foreshadows an unsuccessful future for America. Through creativity, goals are met by avoiding or attacking specific obstacles . The HOSA definition for creativity, in which is followed by several individuals, is a mindset in which allows for multiple possible solutions to be combined in creating an overall evaluation to a set of problems, whether idealistic or abstract. This process is necessary in the production of a forward momentum for the United States. With the introduction of a class that teaches the fundamentals of creativity, the creativity crisis will be resolved by providing the future you of the United States with leadership skills, problem solving skills, and a drive towards success.
Creativity and leadership are practically synonymous in the world of problem solving. The introduction of a creativity class would automatically provide students with the teachings of leadership. And, in previous history, the United States' success derives from a strong leadership-based cluster. For example, during the World War II era, the world was upraised out of international crisis through strong allied leaders including Woodrow Wilson, Joseph Stalin, and Winston Churchill. With the decline of creativity and leadership skills, there may not be unique individuals, such as the previous leaders, to step up to provide the nation with international success. This could potentially mean overall social, economic, and political disaster for America as well as those nations that depend on us.
The main objective of creativity is to find solutions to complex problems through complex thinking. Therefore, a class that teaches the practical ideals of creativity would show a unit on the creative problem solving process: environmental analysis, making assumptions, generating alternatives, production of solutions, evaluation of solutions, and implementation. This multi-step process would allow children from the ages six to eighteen to provide solutions to difficult problems. And, creativity does not diminish over time- it remains as a mindset until that individual proceeds to decease or experiences brain damage. Therefore, introduction of the class will allow future professionals to solve problems with ease, which is necessary in future successes and goal reaching.
Just as the United States' school system today strives to achieve a drive for success in youth, the introduction of a creativity class would seal this goal. Rather than taking impractical classes such as physical education and computer sciences, students may have the opportunity to enroll in a class which allows guidance in everyday life. There is not a day that goes by in which creativity wouldn't be significant in achieving vital goals. So in a sense, the teachings of a creativity class would allow an increase in positive mindsets towards schooling techniques. Students would want to come to class because its lectures provide guidance in becoming an overall successful being. It's simple, who wouldn't jump at the opportunity to create successes through a simple class?
Overall, creativity provides the world with what it is today. For example, without the creative mindsets of the early colonial settlers, prehistoric cavemen, and our founding fathers, this world would lay in international ruin. By targeting the youth, the creativity class would provide guidance in creating a successful future.

Reflection
This piece was written on April 18th, 2017 along with another essay the same class. It was surely a time crunch, although I view this piece as one of my favorite. As it was written later in the year, the creativity class essay exemplifies more of the strengths that I obtained throughout the year. For example, in the piece I relied heavily on facts that I knew through my studies in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), in which my team had placed first in the state. The piece also flows very well which was one of my struggles in the beginning of the year. During the first quarter, my writing was staggered and contained many errors in terms of the evidence portion. Although, as seen in the piece, these errors were corrected through my teachings through the year. There is a steady flow through the use of assertion, commentary, and evidence (as taught by Ms. Brandon). It was also very easy to take a side on this prompt, for I am an active advocate for the introduction of a class that teaches creativity. So, the argumentation extent was very high in this piece, which is the main reason why I was excited to publish it on the portfolio.
